A Ski Goddess Course is an intensive ski course within a fabulous and fun holiday.
What to Expect
The courses are run in Chatel in the Portes du Soleil. There are 3, 4 and mostly 5 day courses and we run them for all levels from novice to advanced.
When you book with us we will have a detailed telephone session about you and your skiing, fears and favourites. We find out exactly what you want to achieve during your week with us.
You may want to get the best possible foundation for your skiing in the early days. You want to improve your ski confidence and take your skiing to the next level. You want to keep up and enjoy skiing with family, kids, friends and partners. You may want to focus on your own skiing without your normal ski party and the pressures that can bring. It could be that you want to free yourself from a particular fear of skiing ~ steeps, ice, bumps etc. Perhaps you want to get really good at off piste skiing, or you may just want to have a good fun skiing experience with like minded women. Whatever it is – we can tailor the course to your exact needs.
Before your holiday you will be practicing techniques to help with all things “Mind Over Matter”. I am a qualified Sophrologist and I teach a series of techniques to calm and focus the mind. Sophrology is a household term in Europe, and slowly making its way in the UK. Based in neurology it uses many influences such as hypnosis, NLP and meditation. I might add that we will not be held responsible if the benefits of these sessions improve your everyday life too!
The practice shot to fame across France and Switzerland 50 years ago when the Swiss Ski Team went from the bottom to top of the world rankings. They won over 200 World Cup and Olympic medals in two seasons using the techniques.
Getting to Chatel
When you arrive in Geneva one of our transfer people will be there to greet you. They are all friends of us at Ski Goddess and are friendly, professional and knowledgeable. They will take you to the door of the chalet where one of the Goddess team will meet you.
Once settled we will have a little get together with you and all the other Goddesses and have a chat about how the course will run plus “need to knows”. We will answer any questions before your delightful evening meal by our fabulous chef Joe.
Unlike most ski holidays, your ski equipment will come to you in your chalet. A range of ski boots will be brought by our friends Ski Hire 2U. Equipment is a huge factor for your ability and comfort. Therefore, we will always be checking to make sure you have the best fit. Ski Hire 2U usually come at a suitable time in the evening of your arrival. However, occasionally we delay them until the first morning if there have been any holdups.
On the Slopes Each Day
Each day we will be at the slopes between 9 and 9.30am. We usually have a quick chat about the focus of the day and sometimes we do an exercise or two previously in the chalet before putting ski boots on. This is to give us a good idea of the sensations we are looking for when on the snow.
For the morning session we often ski till 11.45am and stop for coffee and a snack. In the morning we might do drills and exercises on easier terrain. After coffee we may test our skills on some more challenging terrain. All morning I will be gathering video footage of your progress.
We often have late lunch around 1.45pm. This means we get the most of “the work” done before lunch and have the mountain to ourselves whilst others are eating theirs. Lunch is about an hour and then we re-enforce our morning’s work for an hour or so afterwards. We normally finish on snow between 4 and 4.30pm
Video analysis sessions
Tea and scrumptious cake
Bubbles and hot tub!
A mosey round the village
A restorative yoga session
…or a massage
Apres and Video Analysis??
Back at the chalet your hosts will have tea and cake waiting for you.
You can relax and freshen up before our Video Analysis session.
Afraid so! – Your skills will be shown on the big screen and we can discuss strengths and weaknesses. It is an amazing tool to help you see exactly what you’re doing and where you need to do what. We usually have a giggle and you will enjoy a huge turbo boost from these sessions.
Other days will be opportunities to relax, join Nina in a yoga session, or have a mosey around Chatel.
Most nights you will have a delicious 3 course meal to enjoy and no doubt have plenty to talk about from the events of each day.
One night will be the chalet staff night off. On this night we will arrange a restaurant for you in town and there will be other opportunities to go into town for a mosey for Après too.
Myself and the other instructors are normally lucky enough to to join you for a dinner or two, especially on the last night where we can let our hair down a little! But whether lunch or dinner ~ you can be sure of a Grand Finale in true Goddess style!
